“OH. MY. GOSH.” That’s the only way I can describe the batch of tunes we’ve whipped up for you this week. After everything that went down this weekend you’re probably a bit sleep deprived and a little less rich in brain cells, but don’t fret. Now that you’re all tuckered out from listening to Friday’s playlist and doing God knows what else this weekend, we’re not just gonna’ leave ya’ hangin’. There’s medicine on the way to help you coast through your week. Music is What Feelings Sound Like #8!

If you’re an old dubstep fan, you understand the agony of watching what was once a beautiful thing get shattered by the ugly beast that is the Mainstream, stomped on by masses of High School & College Kids eager to party, “rage” and do drugs.  As a result, out evolved an almost unrecognizable blob called “brostep”.   Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely good heavy-hitting songs and producers out there, but a majority of people now seem to think adding a “nasty wobble” and screechy noises to a Katy Perry or Britney Spears song = “dubstep”.  Anyways, the point is it’s been a while since some new dubstep has appeared on the scene that isn’t already from one of the masters and/or isn’t that Thing the Mainstream has decided to call “dubstep”.  So for those of you who are fed up with…that Thing, here’s a refreshing remix from an upcoming duo: Fez2.

Based in Los Angeles, the pair just released their first song together: a remix of AWOLNATION’s “Sail” they did for AWOLNATION’s remix competition. The winners of this competition are yet to be announced, but take a listen (below).  Their remix has hints of MiM0SA, Circus records, and even a little of the dubtek-y sound Zeds Dead has started to feature under the Mad Decent label.

(Unfortunately, due to the rules of the remix competition, I could not put this song up for download…)

Also check out the original version of the song by AWOLNATION:

If you happen to be in NYC, hit up AWOLNATION’s (along with Twin Atlantic) show at Webster Hall on November 21, 2011!
