October 28th

It’s Halloween weekend and like most holidays, party mode is in full effect! There’s so much happening in the next few days it’s hard to keep track of it all. Maya Jane Coles is playing a party boat that will cruise the SF Bay, Tiesto is playing Ruby Skye, Southern California will be hosting HARD Halloween as well as Escape From Wonderland, New York will see sets by Porter Robinson and French newcomer Madeon, and it all culminates in Monday’s celebration!

Mother Knows Best

This being my first post, I figured it was only fitting to start at the beginning of my musical career: as a child being forced to learn the piano by his mother.  After years and years of practicing and performing at recitals, it didn’t take long before I got my license to skip out on them. Ironically enough, the piano has become hands down my favorite instrument to listen to in a tune.  If an artist somehow incorporates the ivory keys into their tracks, I will forever be a fan.

Today as I was strolling down the streets of the Big Apple listening to my weekly dose of Trance Around the World, I was pleasantly surprised by Argentina’s finest duo Heatbeat. Their new jam “Ask The Cat”, released this past summer, took me on a journey into an abrupt and startling trance (for lack of a better word).

Heatbeat – Ask The Cat

The piano can take the edge off the rough, complement the crunchy, and add a certain human tangibility to the electric. Here are a few more piano laced tracks for your listening pleasure, old and new… Enjoy!

Eric Prydz – Pjanoo

Ellie Goulding – Starry Eyed (Russ Chimes Remix)

Bar 9 – Midnight

Robb Dougan – Clubbed To Death (Kurayamino Mix)
